It's the quiet of the story the most unsettled me. The calm acceptance of whatever is visiting the farm is unnerving.

I love how dread comes through a collapse of ordinary causality. The sentences are solemn, almost processional. Wonderful, Gary.

Ah yes, I realised immediately after posting 👍 I'll read parts 2 and 3 this evening so. I'm deep in the trenches of line editing my novel right now. Is part 3 the final part of the story?
